Mission Shiksha is a flagship national program of JMV Child Care Foundation, dedicated to providing basic education, healthcare, and nutrition to underprivileged children. Our vision extends beyond traditional classroom boundaries, aiming to create vibrant and dynamic learning environments where children can explore, experiment, and discover themselves without the constraints of conventional academic pressure.
Our Approach
Mission Shiksha addresses these challenges by establishing learning centers within schools to foster skills such as creativity, time management, and decision-making. The SPICE framework—Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative, and Emotional development—guides our approach, focusing on competencies essential for a strong future.
We offer non-formal education for children aged 6-14 who are not in school and short courses for dropouts aged 14-18. Facilitators undergo rigorous five-week training, covering classroom management, child-centric teaching methods, and skill development.
Impact
In the past year, Mission Shiksha directly provided education to 13,000 children through 160 centers across 15 states. Notably, 41% of the beneficiaries were girls. We successfully mainstreamed 87% of eligible children into formal schools and ensured that 100% of our teachers received training in effective academic methodologies.
Parental Engagement
Recognizing the importance of a supportive home environment, we introduced parental workshops and retreats. These sessions offer guidance on nurturing parent-child relationships, creating a conducive home environment, and supporting children’s progress.

Payal, 13 years old
“I want to be a chess player.”
Payal’s eyes light up when she shares her dream. Despite a challenging start—being abandoned by her father at birth and losing her mother in an accident—Payal has found support and care from her father, Mukesh, a construction laborer who struggles daily to provide for her. Now studying in the 5th grade at a Mission Shiksha center in UP, Payal enjoys drawing and playing chess. Inspired by her own experiences, she aspires to become a teacher to help children who lack educational opportunities.
